There’s a song in Disney’s Zootopia…okay, it’s the only song in Zootopia, called “Try Everything“, sung by Gazelle, or Shakira, whoever has bigger hips. In summary, it’s about making mistakes, getting up, and trying again, because you should always keep trying (Spoiler: it’s the moral of the movie).
I like this moral. Not the “keep on trying no matter what” moral, because sometimes you should give up on your dreams, like if your dream is to join ISIS or to build the first diaper gun. No, the part about wanting to try everything, even if it hurts. I’m a huge believer in exploring the world, stepping out of your comfort zone, jumping off the tallest mountain just for the experience. It’s an amazing way to live.
So even if the movie doesn’t speak to you on the “follow your dreams” scale, the not-so-subtle racism level, or the “anthropomorphic fox and hot bunny totally doin’ it” crowds, at least let it inspire you to go do something new today.
Just…maybe not drugs?
