Active Belief, Part 2

I happened upon another instance today where “minding yo’ own damn business” would pretty much be just the best thing ever. It had to do with the recent presidential election, and some of the atrocious nonsense that Donald Trump can’t seem to stop saying.

For instance, Twitter instantly leapt on one of his latest tweets, which put pro-life beliefs in a horrible light.

I mean, of course he did. So far, he’s taken every reverent concept or belief held by long-time conservatives and stretched it until it no longer mattered, became a twisted mockery of itself, unworthy of consideration. As a tool for socialists, he is succeeding. I would be amazed at this campaign’s effectiveness if it wasn’t so appalling.

Were we to break down the individual things Trump has spewed into normal sane human talk, we would find a list of issues that don’t belong in a presidential campaign. Of course, most of the inane questions are asked by reporters, but often, the candidates themselves make a point to run on promises of ridiculous perks. I suppose someone thought punishing women who had abortions was a “perk”, or those words would never have even left the Orange Baboon’s mouth.

How does “minding yo’ own damn business enter into this? Not only does Trump not need to even worry about this argument (which has literally been going on for decades and will probably continue to go on until the end of time), but he has nothing to back up his own opinions. Maybe Hillary could make it a point to address during her own candidacy promises, if she had any backbone whatsoever, but Trump? That’s like trying to convince a hungry wolf pack not to eat a juicy little bunny.

I know, I know, politicians apparently need to have opinions on every tiny little thing asked, or else sometime could get pissed off. Well, that’s working like a charm, huh Donald? If any of these idiots who want to be president were to answer a question that didn’t matter with “That topic is not a part of my running platform; we’ll get there when we get there”, I could see a huge number of people who all agree understanding that answer and moving on. Sure, the media wouldn’t let it go. They’d be outraged! What??! No answer to spin in a negative light? No story to write about the next dramatic answer? Unbelievable! Common sense will have won, and maybe the work will have benefitted.

Sometimes I wish I could run, just to show America what an actual presidential campaign, complete with moral standards, honest answers, and a genuine desire to help our nation should look like.

For now, I have to bear the shame of what our nation has become: A land of fools, looking for any reason at all to become angry.
