The Gift of Sacrifice

Unspoken long, and e’er refused
The tales of a Christ in secular worlds.
“Merry”, and “jolly”, and “holiday” spring
From lips, between hands, of greeting and partings.

Rarely are handshakes met with a story
The joy of a new start, the end of prophesy.
Every year should be spent in reminding
In living, in giving, in blessed good tiding.

A savior, a child, the great Son of God!
Celebration and gladness be to the One!
His birth, for His death, for His life everlasting
And for us to share, the greatest of giftings!

Sing we, of praises? Shout we, in streets?
Tell of the good news? Remind we? Repeat?
Once again, there is hope for the hopelessly losing.
For the wayward, the hungry, the poor, the seeking.

Praise Him! Praise God! Hallelujah! Rejoice!
Call the Church, call the people, raise up your voice!
We are saved! We are sanctified! We are the living!
A sacrifice born for us, a gift meant for giving!

Let us be gifters of good news this day
Tell the world about Jesus, “asleep on the hay.”
