Try

Tell me something else. Something you’d prefer.
I’ll tell you what I think. Words have never hurt.
Maybe I’ll agree. Perhaps you’ll change your mind.
But neither of us shouldn’t say the other didn’t try.

I’ll shuffle my two feet. You’ll wring out both your hands.
We’ll think of what to say. We won’t speak, in the end.
You know what you believe. I know that I’m behind.
But neither of us shouldn’t say the other didn’t try.

Speak, at length, of reason. Expound upon a Truth.
Reason with the other, you and I, youth to youth.
Sometimes I was wrong. Sometimes you weren’t right.
But neither of us shouldn’t say the other didn’t try.
