We play reserved upon this ground
And all we touch turns gold
This sky, this sacred blue, is ours
The mighty and the old.
Taught not by men of greater ways
Untrained by higher mind
We keep our innocence ablaze
And rather stay the blind.
Before the damaged wilderness
We gaze in wonder free
Until the very day is blessed
With love eternally.

As the semester progresses (and o! how quickly and earnestly it does so!), so also does the realization of how very large and open the world actually is. There is so much, everywhere, and in such momentous amounts, that when something becomes familiar and small, one needs only to step forward a few more feet and be completely lost once again.
It is in this understanding that I recall the various tests and trials set before each of us, daily. The hopes and fears. The hard truths and the sad falsehoods. The joys, and the sorrows. But behind every balanced law of nature, there is one overruling fact that topples the scales of our warped justice: The Unconditional BLESSINGS of God.
In this way, we should hope to discover the irrevocable knowledge of peace throughout our stressful, non-stop, self-centered, all-powerful lifestyles, and turn our misguided focus back to the redeeming safety of our Lord.
In other words: Stop and smell the roses, and then thank God for the roses. All the time.
