Selling Out

You’ve been selling out to be received
And while it’s worked before
All the standards you’d achieved
Have only been ignored.

Your morals ripped into a sieve
And the gaping hole it tore
Let your weakened ethics leave
Through frames without a door.

What once you captained and conceived
And stood up rightly for
Is left, like rags, to be retrieved
By those you now abhor.

If all of what you used to cleave
Stings like an open sore
I pray you cite what you believed
Before it hurts no more.
