The Blaggard

This is an incomplete poem I found on my phone. Here for your enjoyment.

The Blaggard

Persevere? I will succeed!
I’ve naught to lose but pride and fear
Once focused on the meager beatitudes
I lost my sense of purpose, lust for Truth
And meaning became meaningless
So yes, I’ll change my attitude, and hark!
Consumed by knowledge this wise soul shall be!

Like a ship in Summer’s heat, I grow complacent
No longer am I loathe to idle talents
And grogginess persists
Upon the once-frenetic wheels of creativity
Until I slither, placid, to the grimy pits where
Everafter, courage and confidence go to die.

Somewhere in the darkest fathom
Underneath the quickening depths where hatred broods
Races a faint light, as dagger from a scabbard
And towards my weighted body it speeds mightily
Until it captures it within the hull
A dreadful act, it seems, but for a while
