Durham

I just spent the evening at the Durham Performing Arts Center attending The Lion King musical show. What a wonderfully-designed production. The stage, actors, props, costumes, everything, was brimming with color and cleverness.

Durham strikes me as a city in the middle. A pothole of crime and ruined business on one hand, and a growing center of art and modern culture on the other. Even more than Raleigh, there is beauty in the city’s roots and corners, stretching through its sparse skyline and buried between dying neighborhoods.

I need to spend more time there. I can feel its call.
