Has anyone noticed that the bad guys in the Marvel movies are getting dumber, and the plots are becoming more forced?
Let me try to put it into words.
Iron Man
Terrorist, then a weapons manufacturer who wants to make money
Incredible Hulk
I dunno, military guy? Who even remembers?
Iron Man 2
Russian maniac out for revenge, and weapons manufacturer who wants to make money
Thor
Blue giants with ancient grudges, and Loki with daddy issues
Captain America
Devil Mr. Smith and ultra-Nazis
Avengers
Loki wants to rule the world
Iron Man 3
Terrorists are super powered or something, I watched this movie two times and I still don’t care
Captain America 2
Cap’s friend is back from the dead and his metal arm is SUPER itchy; also, the ultra-Nazis
Thor 2
White elves can’t sleep, need to turn out the lights, it’s too bright
Guardians of the Galaxy
Racist cult hasn’t killed anyone recently, it’s time for a rampage
Avengers 2
Robot thinks he’s god, tries hard to live up to his own standards, wants to kill all humans
Ant Man
Weapons manufacturer again
Captain America 3
All those bad guys are the Avengers’ fault somehow, so one rando decides to make them fight
I might have oversimplified one or two, but you see where I’m coming from? The first movie villains had some motivation–they wanted to make a ton of money, or they wanted lots of power, or someone killed their father, prepare to die. Recently, it’s getting super political, boo hoo I lost my wife, humans are destroying the planet, hippie crap stuff. Anyone who lives on planet earth are whiny sacks of flesh who deserve extinction, and it’s Iron Man’s fault that the crazy terrorist zombie robot Nazis killed someone’s family.
Good of the many, man. It’s the first and last rule of any hero, soldier, or vigilante. Some peoples gotsta die so’s the rest can lives. Kirk knows it. Spock knows it. Cap knows it.
Whatever. It’s just a movie. It was awesome. Go see it.
