Well, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these…fun fun fun.
Alright, so the year has been progressing nicely. With a few classes out of the way, I have time to study for the rest, and now a larger slot set apart for…well, nothing really. I’ve actually managed to fill it recently with two ballets to edit, courtesy of Florida Classical Ballet Theatre of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This is pretty cool, and definitely opens some doors in the future of the company.
But they’re the first in a few months, because I’ve been purposefully neglecting possible filming hunts, advertisement, or anything similar to proactively building BLV. This has been in part to my school schedule. But with Summer approaching, and friends (like Jesse Easterling) moving to places they weren’t before (like UCF), I’ve been easing back into the “business ownership” routine, which I actually happen to enjoy very much. Here are some changes to be looking for:
- A name change. We’ll probably officially change the company name to “Blinding Light” as soon as we get a business license in Orlando. The URL will stay until the current owners of “www.blindinglight.com” release their hold on their outdated site. This move is to ensure people don’t immediately associate BL with only video and film. We can then do cool things with add-ons, such as “Blinding Light | Graphics” and Blinding Light | Event Planning”. (Hints…)
- A new website! Working on a simple, more informative, and easily upgradable site design. You’ll see it just as soon as I figure out how to set up a server.
- Some new talent. People moving up to Orlando and wanting in on the business will help drive us along with a good force, capable of taking on some of the competition already established in the area. Practice makes perfect, and I plan to practice good advertising quite a lot in the upcoming months.
- A possibility of investors. We’ve been working off personal loans and bank account input for the last three years, and while that helped us in the short-term, having investors and substantial financial backing will help propel Blinding Light into the competitive world with the proper tools to do its job.
Those are some of the changes I made up to mull over. If there’s any ideas/opinions you feel like sharing, don’t be afraid to do so. Because I know who the only three people who read this blog are.
Matt….OUT.
