Imagine this: A man kills your dog-\u00a0just walks up to it and intentionally murders your pet. What would you do? What would he do? How could he possibly make that right? Money? Apologies? Buy you another dog?<\/p>\n

The answer is nothing<\/em>. There is absolutely nothing that man could do in order to fix that. You could sue him for twenty thousand dollars and throw him in jail for 30 years and your dog would still be dead.<\/p>\n

Well, that’s how I feel about my relationships at times. I love having people to\u00a0talk with, work with, meet and share and introduce and love, and even the ones I don’t grow especially close with are valued. But when one of those relationships disappears, or is destroyed, or I murder it somehow, it’s irreplaceable. I’ve lost that person, and there’s no getting them back. Burnt bridge, cut rope, dissed and pissed…away.<\/p>\n

I wonder if this is just a small amount of the pain and mental agony Adam suffered upon his break from God. To be in close, personal contact, and then lose it because of something he did- it must have been terrifying.<\/p>\n

Anyways, speaking of terrifying, I haven’t been frightened of anything all year. Not a single thing. Usually, there was some choice, or word, or emotion that scared the crap out of me, but not for a full year. I have never been so fearless.<\/p>\n

There’s a phrase C.S. Lewis wrote in his Space Trilogy. The second book, “Perelandra”, tales place in an alternate birth-of-the-world parallel. In it, the Eve-figure resists temptation, the tempter is defeated, and she is reunited with the Man to live in wonderful, sinless bliss for eternity. An angel explains the situation to a man from Earth, who does not fully understand the implications. This is what he says:<\/p>\n

The world is born to-day,\u2019 said Malacandra. \u2018To-day for the first time two creatures of the low worlds, two images of Maleldil\u00a0that breathe and breed like the beasts, step up that step at which your parents fell, and sit in the throne of what they were meant to be. It was never seen before. Because it did not happen in your world a greater thing happened, but not this. Because the greater thing happened in Thulcandra [Earth], this and not the greater thing happens here.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’ve been telling myself this for the past couple of months.\u00a0\u00a0I believe it’s true, in that God had something absolutely wonderful planned for mankind, and when we failed at it, He brought something even more<\/em>\u00a0wonderful along to make it even better. And I’m pretty sure He does this with everybody, in many different areas of their life. Things could very well be awesome- but they’re probably even better this way, even though the awesome thing didn’t happen.<\/p>\n

Or maybe I’m just really easily convinced by myself.<\/p>\n

In closing, I picked up an awesome new pen pal, who I will miss very much, but not as much as I would if we weren’t writing letters. Work, design projects, car trouble, birthdays, videography, and God has completely consumed my life at the moment. No more time for videogames, no more time for movies (except with friends), no more time fr reading (except the Bible), and no more time for me (which is relieving). Someday, I won’t be such a bummer to hang out with, but for now, I can’t stand me.<\/p>\n
